Slap Sopota - Details
A short walk takes you to a 62 meter high waterfall. It drops from a beautiful rock face covered with vegetation. The pool is surrounded by large boulders in a picturesque green area. This is a place to come to rest and recharge your batteries.
If you drive to Slap Sopota from Tolmin, you come across the parking for Slap Beri, also worth a visit.
How to get there
In the center of Tolmin, on the main road coming from Kobarid, drive ahead in the direction of Idrija. You cross the Tolminka river and 400 meters after the bridge turn left to Poljubinj. First there is an industrial area at your left, shortly after you reach the village Poljubinj.
At the beginning there is a little square with a tree in the middle, stay on the main road which is slightly to the right.
When driving out of Poljubinj, you come across the parking of Slap Beri. Continue driving on this small road for about 6 kilometers. You will drive through Ljubinj, pass some first houses of Podmelec later and 1 kilometer after those houses, about 500 meters before entering the Podmelec village, there is a parking on the right.
On the opposite site is a large wooden sign for Slap Sopota.
During the walk
Walk uphill along the sign on the left side of the meadow until you enter the woods. Shortly after entering the woods there is a picnic place. The path is signed where needed, first a bit steep, later rather level.
Before reaching the waterfall there is another steep section with wooden stairs.
