Črno jezero - Details

Description
If you look north towards the Komarča cliff while still at the parking at Savica dom, it is hard to believe that there is a path along that rock wall. The path is actually not very difficult as long as you don’t suffer from vertigo.
It is a serious climb though. You will be rewarded with nice views, a very interesting path along the cliff, and the lowest of the Triglav lakes in a quiet and beautiful mountainous area.

From Črno jezero you can continue your walk to the next Triglav lakes. Have a look at the Dvojno jezero page for that longer walk. I separated them for clearer trip information.

Be aware
If you have vertigo, this might not be a good walk for you. Although the path along the Komarča cliff is well secured and not difficult, it is rather exposed at times. Especially on your way back down a fear of heights will be hard to ignore.

How to get there
Coming from Ribčev Laz at Lake Bohinj, drive along the southern shore of Lake Bohinj to Ukanc and continue to Dom Savica and Koča pri Savici where there is a large parking (or just follow directions to Slap Savica anywhere in the region, you won’t miss it).

During the walk
From the parking, walk north to the bridge over the Savica and follow signs to Črno jezero. About 130 meters after the bridge, take the path to Črno jezero that branches off to the left. The path is well way marked with red-white dots.
First the path goes up the slope through beech forest. There are signs to Črno jezero where needed. At two points during the scramble along the cliff you come across a little waterfall. The second point is a nice place to relax and use the water as refreshment. When you reach a stone with the elevation of 1267 meters painted on it, you have done most of the climbing. This stone is on a ridge with steep slopes on both sides.
If you arrive at the lake, a path along the north side of the lake continues to the other lakes in the Triglav lake valley, signposted with Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih.
