Viševnik - Details

Description
The ascent to the Viševnik top is easy without scrambling. After you reached the top you can do a circular walk or go back the same way.
The road to Rudno polje lifts you up to 1345 meters where the walk starts, leaving little over 700 meters to climb the 2050 high top.
The walk starts with a steep but easy climb along a ski slope. After you reached the section with the dwarf pines the ascent becomes more gentle and the stunning views start to come. The last part to the top walking along a ridge is very beautiful. If you decide to continue the walk to the Blejska koča and from there back to Rudno polje, you walk a nice and easy path along valleys.
Early in the season you might find snow in the valleys after the top.

How to get there
Coming from Bled: follow signs to Pokljuka, the big forest plateau. Drive all the way through the forest to Rudno polje.
Coming from Bohinj: from Bohinjska Bistrica drive in the direction of Bled. Shortly after crossing the Sava Bohinjka river, turn left on the main road, to Jereka. In Jereka, continue the road to Pokljuka (and probably Bled). After 15 kilometers you arrive at a junction, turn left to Rudno polje. Below you find a track to download from Bohinjska Bistrica to Rudno polje.
Park on the big parking place on the left side of the road.

During the walk
On the opposite side of the road you see a big government building and left from it a smaller building. Take the forest road between that smaller building and a bar to the left of that smaller building.
After 700 meters the forest road reaches the bottom of the ski slope. Walk along the left edge of the slope. At the end turn left to walk along the second ski slope. After you passed the top of the slope, the path continues, well-marked with red-white dots and a few signs. Later on when you walk the section with dwarf pines, you can see the ridge you are heading at with the Viševnik top a little to the left.

To continue the circular walk:
From the Viševnik top, continue on the path along the ridge and find the path that descents into the valley at the right side of the ridge. You will walk along the left side of the valley to a col (or saddle). On top of the col, you see another valley, which you will pass as well walking along the left side. During that part you will reach a point very close to the abyss into the Krma valley with stunning views (waypoint in downloads below).
The path continues, meandering along lower tops at your left and finally you will reach the mountain hut Blejska koča . When you can see the hut some 30 meters below, the path continues along the slope with the hut at your left. Suddenly there is a path to the right with a sign on a tree to Rudno polje. There is a waypoint of the start of that path in the downloads below.
You walk along a footpath, gently descending through beautiful forest, for about 50 minutes. You will cross one forest road along that path, the footpath continues on the other side of the forest road. The footpath ends at another forest road. Turn right and continue on that forest road. After another 13 minutes you arrive at the top of the lower ski slope. Walk downhill along the slope and down the slope turn left to walk back to the parking along the forest road.
