Bovec area

Although this area is called Bovec, it covers the area from Kranjska Gora to Tolmin via Trenta, Soča, Kal Koritnica, Bovec, Zaga, Srpenica, Trnovo ob Soči and Kobarid. Locations are ordered from north to south.
Locations between the Predel pass and Bovec via Strmec and Log pod Mangartom are listed before reaching Bovec.

Slemenova špica (Sleme)

This is one of the best relative short walks to sense the alpine scenery. On Slemenova špica you have a 360 degrees view on nearby mountain peaks. This isolated peak has a height of 1911 meters. Because of the Vršič road you start at 1611 meters making it rather easy to get there.

Zapotok waterfalls

This walk takes you along the stream Suhi potok to five waterfalls, the last one being the highest of Triglav National Park with its height of 120 meters. Unlike many other walks, here the path follows the riverbed most of the time.
You will even walk in the riverbed at times and you can get to all the beautiful pools of the waterfalls very easily (except for the last one).

Mlinarica gorge

​If you are in the area already, this is a short nice walk to the exit of the Mlinarica gorge. The walk takes you to a viewpoint into the exit of the Mlinarica gorge, surrounded by high rock faces.

Zadnjica valley ​and Belopotoski slap

A nice and easy half day walk in a remote valley surrounded by high mountain peaks, with an interesting waterfall along the way.

Lepenjica

This is a very idyllic location. The Lepenjica cascades through an area with beautiful varied vegetation. You can do a short circular walk.

Šunik stream

The Sunik stream is an unknown treasure. There is a path along the first 900 meters of this beautiful riverbed with many cascades and small waterfalls easy to reach.

Lepenjica waterfall

At the end of the Lepena valley there is a 55 meters high cascading waterfall. This short walk takes you to a viewpoint from where you can see the Lepenjica waterfall.

Krnsko jezero

This is a walk to the largest Slovene alpine lake. Once you arrived at the Duplje plain on your way to the lake you sense the alpine atmosphere.

Mangart

The Mangart (2678 meters) can be recommended for those who would like to be on top of a mountain but don’t want to spend a long day or even more climbing. The parking is at little over 2000 meters, leaving 630 meters for you to climb.

Fratarica gorge (with Slap Parabola)

This gorge has a beautiful cascading riverbed with several waterfalls. The 48 meters high slap Parabola which is the main attraction, can be reached in 25 minutes.
You need to cross the Koritnica without a bridge but a path has been made with large flat rocks in the riverbed.

Duration: 1,5 hours (to Slap Parabola 50 minutes)
Length: 3 kilometers (to Slap Parabola 850 meters)

Gorejca stream

A nice short walk takes you to the Gorejca stream with a pool that warms up to 20 degrees Celsius in summer.
From there you can walk to a next waterfall and along an adventurous path even to a third waterfall.

Duration: 50 minutes to the first two waterfalls, all together 1 hour and 25 minutes

Možnica valley

This is a lovely walk through the quiet Možnica valley. You walk along nice forest trails, along a few meadows and later on along the beautiful Nemčlja creek.

Bavšica valley

Close to Fort Kluže is a nice undemanding walk with lots of variety to the beginning of the Bavšica valley. Part of the walk takes you along the beautiful Šunik creek. You can also visit its source.

Koritnica gorge

This is a short walk to the small Koritnica gorge. There are possibilities to walk some alternate paths in the direct surroundings of the gorge.

Slap Virje and Izvir Glijuna

Close to Bovec this is a short walk to the waterfall Slap Virje surrounded by a beautiful scenery, and to the typical karst spring of the river Glijun.

Kanin, Prestreljeniško okno

This walk starts with a ride with the Kanin cableway, followed by a short walk to the natural window Prestreljenisko okno in the Kanin mountains.

Slap Boka

The Boka is the most powerful and one of the highest waterfalls in Slovenia.
There is a path to its source which is described here, as well as a short walk to the official viewpoint (short and easy, see the details page for trip information).

Učja valley

This is a partially circular walk in the beautiful remote Učja valley. You will come across two waterfalls of the Globoški creek.

Sušec canyon

An easy reachable picturesque gorge with numerous waterfalls and cascades in polished channels. You could easily have driven past this place a number of times without knowing that it’s there.

Slap Curk

A nice varied walk through woods, along pastures with excellent views and at the end through a beautiful gorge with the at least 60 meters high waterfall.

Slap Supot and Slap Krampež

This is a short walk to an area with different streams coming together. First you arrive at Slap Supot, a few minutes later you reach Slap Krampež. Both waterfalls are about 10 meters high.

Koseška korita

This is an interesting walk because of the many different landscape features and natural sights you will find along the way. We got it as tip from the Kobarid Tourist Information Center.

Slap Kozjak

Slap Kozjak is situated in one of the most spectacular surroundings. The 15 meter high waterfall drops over an edge in a half open cave at the end of a picturesque gorge.

Nadiža

The Nadiža river is famous for its swimming spots, but along a nice gorge there is a path that you can walk, which is described here.

Slap Brinta, Gregorčičev slap, Slap Malenšček

This walk takes you to three waterfalls, two of which are above 80 meters (Brinta and Gregorčičev). The gorge of the Malenšček stream in which you descend at the start is rather nice. The Brinta waterfall with its absolute free fall of 100 meters is quite impressive, provided it has enough water.

Sopotnica

A walk through the gorge of the Sopotnica along a few waterfalls, to the source
Grofova voda. As usual in beautiful surroundings…

Tolminska korita

Within walking distance from Tolmin, this walk along the gorges of the Tolminka and Zadlaščica rivers is an absolute must do. Like at many locations in Slovenia, several stunning natural sights are packed together in close distance, connected by beautiful well maintained paths.

Slap Beri

This is a short walk to the 20 meter high Beri waterfall. What is so special about this waterfall is that the rock wall from which it drops is covered with vegetation. A wonderful complete green environment.

Slap Sopota

This is a nice 62 meter high waterfall that you can reach in little over 10 minutes.
Even the road from Poljubinj to the parking close to Podmelec is nice, taking you through an idyllic landscape.
